Mumbai: Mumbai and several parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) began Friday with partly cloudy skies and warm weather conditions. Temperatures climbed to around 34°C during the morning hours, creating a humid atmosphere across the city.
According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, dry weather is expected to persist throughout the day despite cloud cover in some areas. Residents are likely to experience continued summer-like conditions as temperatures remain elevated.
Humidity Levels Likely to Cause Discomfort
Weather officials have indicated that humidity levels may remain close to 70 per cent, adding to the discomfort for commuters and residents. The minimum and maximum temperatures across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai are expected to range between 30°C and 38°C.
The combination of heat and moisture in the air is likely to make outdoor conditions feel warmer than the recorded temperature.
Rainfall and Thunderstorms Forecast From Saturday
While Friday is expected to remain largely dry, the weather department has forecast a change in conditions beginning May 31. Light rainfall along with thundershowers is expected to affect Mumbai and nearby regions, bringing some relief from the prevailing heat.
The anticipated weather shift comes as the city moves closer to the onset of the monsoon season.
Air Quality Remains in Good Category
Despite the warm and humid conditions, Mumbai’s air quality continued to remain favourable. The city’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 33, placing it in the ‘good’ category.
