Mumbai Traffic Alert: Road Closures & No Parking In Dadar For Ambedkar Jayanti 2026

Mumbai: Mumbai Traffic Police have announced major road closures and no-parking restrictions in the Dadar area, particularly around Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi, in view of the large crowds expected for Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14.

The restrictions will remain in force from April 13 till midnight on April 14 as lakhs of devotees are likely to visit Chaityabhoomi, the memorial of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

According to a report in The Times of India, several key roads will either be closed to vehicular traffic or converted into one-way routes to ensure smooth movement and safety. These include SVS Road from Siddhivinayak Temple to Yes Bank Junction, which will be completely closed. Dnyaneshwar Mandir Road will also remain shut from its junction with SVS Road till Dadar Chowpatty. Meanwhile, SK Bole Road will operate as a one-way route from Siddhivinayak Temple to Portuguese Church.

Strict no-parking zones have been declared on Veer Savarkar Marg (from Century Junction to Yes Bank Junction), Ranade Road, Keluskar Road, and Dnyaneshwar Mandir Road. Authorities have advised motorists to avoid bringing vehicles to the area and use designated parking facilities instead.

Alternative parking spaces have been made available at Senapati Bapat Marg (from Mahim to Dadar), India Bulls Finance Centre, Kohinoor Square PPL, Kohinoor Mill Compound, Kamgar Stadium, and Five Gardens in Matunga.

To support commuters, Central Railway will run special midnight trains. On the CSMT–Kalyan route, a train will depart CSMT at 1:30 am and reach Kalyan at 3:00 am, with a return service from Kalyan at the same time. Similarly, on the Harbour line, special trains will operate between CSMT and Panvel, departing at 1:30 am from both ends.

BEST will also deploy additional bus services from Dadar station to Shivaji Park and Chaityabhoomi. According to a Mid Day report, these buses will run from 12:01 am to 10 pm on April 14 to facilitate easy travel for devotees.
