Mumbai Shocker: Body of 3-Year-Old Boy Found in Train Coach Dustbin, Relative Suspected

Mumbai: incident, the body of a three-year-old boy was recovered from inside a dustbin in the lavatory of an AC coach on the Kushinagar Express at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) early Saturday morning. The discovery, made by housekeeping staff while cleaning the train, has triggered shock and outrage.

About The Shocking Case

The Kushinagar Express (Train No. 22537) had arrived in Mumbai from Gorakhpur around 1 am Saturday. As workers prepared the train to depart as the Kashi Express (15017), a cleaner entering the lavatory of AC coach B2 stumbled upon the boy’s body stuffed inside a dustbin. He immediately alerted the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus station master, following which the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) rushed to the spot.

The child’s body was later sent to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for post-mortem after a panchnama was completed.

Murder Suspected

According to police, the boy appeared to have been murdered, with strangulation or throat-slitting suspected as the cause of death. Investigators believe his cousin may be behind the killing. The Mumbai GRP has registered a case and forensic teams are assisting with the probe.

Initial investigations suggest that the boy was abducted from Surat, Gujarat. On August 21, his mother lodged a kidnapping complaint at Amroli Police Station (Surat Rural), accusing her 25-year-old cousin of taking away her child. Police now suspect the crime is connected to a family dispute.

Hunt for the Suspect

Officials said the accused relative is currently absconding but search teams are tracking his movements. Surat police officers have also reached Rajawadi Hospital to help identify the child and coordinate with Mumbai authorities. Police sources said they are confident the suspect will be caught soon.

This gruesome discovery has left passengers and railway staff shaken, raising serious concerns over child safety and security on long-distance trains.
