On Monday, July 20, 2026, a BEST bus collided with a roadside divider in the Mankhurd area of Mumbai, resulting in one fatality and seven injuries.
Around 9:14 a.m., BEST Bus 501 was involved in an accident on Sion Panvel Highway, which is located across from Vishwakarma Hospital in Mankhurd.
At least ten injured people were transported to Rajawadi and Govandi Shatabdi Hospital, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
One victim has passed away, while five more are receiving treatment, according to Rajawadi Hospital’s Medical Officer, Dr. Heero. Bhaskar Raosaheb Pande, 65, was declared dead upon arrival.
Shivmangal Maity (42), Ganesh Patel (24), Ata Waghela (43), Rajesh Varugamina (35), and Ankita Jadhav (22) among the injured who were admitted to the hospital.
The bus driver, Banvari Shriram Prasad Sharma (51), and conductor, Vaibhav Waghmare (41), received treatment and are now stable.
In the past 20 days, this has been the second bus accident. In the prior incident, one person was killed and three others were injured when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle close to Kotwal Garden in Mumbai. The collision happened at Dadar West, close to Veer Kotwal Garden and Plaza Cinema.
