Mumbai’s suburban rail network, a lifeline for millions of daily passengers, is set to experience partial disruptions due to essential maintenance work by Central Railway and Western Railway. These periodic Sunday blocks, known as Mega Blocks on Central Railway lines and Jumbo Blocks on Western Railway routes, are crucial for track upkeep and ensuring long-term safety and reliability of services.
As of the latest update on June 5, 2026, full details for the major Mega Block and Jumbo Block scheduled for Sunday, June 7, 2026, across the Central Line, Harbour Line, Trans Harbour Line, Uran Line, and Western Line have not yet been announced by the respective railway authorities.
However, Central Railway has notified commuters about a specific Rolling Mid-Section Block and related restrictions on the Main Line in the Mumbai Division. A special block will be implemented between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) and Vidyavihar from 00:05 to 05:05 hrs on the night of June 6-7, 2026 (Saturday/Sunday).
During this period, suburban train operations will see significant adjustments. Down Slow line services departing from Mumbai CSMT towards Thane will be diverted to the Down Fast line between CSMT and Vidyavihar from 23:30 hrs on June 6 to 04:47 hrs on June 7. These trains will make additional halts at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla stations before resuming their normal slow line route at Vidyavihar.

A special up train from Titwala to CSMT is also scheduled for 22:22 hrs on June 6.
Central Railway has also indicated other maintenance activities, including a special traffic block at Tikekarwadi Yard from June 6 to 10, 2026, along with power and traffic blocks in the Kalyan-Igatpuri section and at Airoli station (up to June 7). No major Mega Block announcements have been made yet for the Harbour Line, Trans Harbour Line, Uran Line on Central Railway, or the Western Line’s Jumbo Block.
Railway officials emphasize that these maintenance windows are vital for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety. Commuters are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and check official updates closer to the date. (Word count: 352)
