Mumbai’s suburban rail network will experience significant interruptions on Sunday, April 19, 2026, as Central Railway and Western Railway carry out scheduled maintenance works. These regular weekend blocks, known as Mega Block on Central Railway routes and Jumbo Block on Western Railway lines, are aimed at track, signal, and overhead equipment upkeep to ensure long-term safety and reliability.
According to announcements updated on April 18, 2026, the blocks will affect multiple corridors, though details for some sections remain pending.
On the Harbour Line, Central Railway has scheduled a Mega Block between Vashi and Panvel from 11:05 AM to 4:05 PM in both directions. Services in this stretch will be impacted during these hours.
No specific Mega Block details have been announced yet for the Central Line main line, Trans-Harbour Line, or Uran Line for April 19. Separately, Central Railway continues a traffic and power block at CSMT from February 1, 2026, to April 26, 2026.
On the Western Line, Western Railway will implement a five-hour Jumbo Block from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the up and down fast lines between Santacruz and Goregaon stations. During this period, through trains will be diverted to operate on local lines in the affected section. Several suburban services are expected to be cancelled, while some Borivali and Andheri-bound trains will terminate at Goregaon and switch to Harbour Line operations.
Additional long-distance services face partial changes: Train No. 19033 from Valsad to Ahmedabad will be partially cancelled between Vadodara and Ahmedabad, and Train No. 20901 from Mumbai Central to Gandhinagar Capital will be short-terminated at Vatva, with the remaining portion cancelled.
Railway authorities have emphasised that these maintenance blocks are essential for infrastructure upkeep and passenger safety. Commuters have been urged to plan their journeys accordingly and bear with the temporary inconvenience caused by the works.
For the latest updates on other blocks in April 2026 or special train arrangements, passengers are advised to check official railway sources or reliable rail information portals.
This disruption comes as part of routine Sunday maintenance across Mumbai’s extensive local train network, which serves millions daily. Travellers, especially those relying on the Harbour and Western corridors, should anticipate delays, cancellations, and possible overcrowding on alternative services.
