Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s ‘B’ Ward has undertaken rigorous action against illegal hawkers who had set up unauthorized stalls in large numbers and illegal construction on footpaths in the sensitive areas of Dongri, Mohammed Ali Road, and Pydhonie in South Mumbai.

The operation was led by Yogesh Desai, the newly appointed Assistant Commissioner of BMC’s ‘B’ Ward, who recently assumed charge. This enforcement drive was particularly significant as these areas typically witness massive crowds of shoppers and are considered sensitive zones. The action, which continued for four consecutive days, involved demolition of unauthorized construction extensions along with removal of encroaching hawkers.
