Mumbai: After multiple delays in the completion and lastly opening the flyover, the BMC has announced to open the gates of the protracted bridge which aims to connect the suburbs of Ram Mandir and Goregaon offering the travellers a direct entry to the points. Stretched till 750 meters the four lane flyover has been constructed to rip off the traffic congestion in Goregaon.
With the opening of Mrinal Tai Gore Railway Flyover in 2016, the extension project was soon proposed seeing choked traffic scenarios on the Link and SV Roads in the restless areas ranging from Oshiwara to Goregaon. The crucial task was given to the joint establishment, MEPL-Gyan. The approval was received in 2018 and the project was ordered to kick off from March 22, 2019. According to the BMC, this project was slated to complete in two years from the date of its foundational stone laid with the budget of 209 crore rupees. But due to the Pandemic era delaying it, the BMC in 2023 approved a revised proposal increasing the budget from 209 crore to 240 crore inclusive of taxes. Later, experiencing architectural setbacks the construction prompted to undergo additional works for the overpass to get ready and considering the contract value the budget was extended to 248 crore rupees eventually.

The civic standing committee visited the site before its inaugural and Congress party leader Ashraf Azmi criticised the BMC for numerous delays. Scheduled to open on May 31, the delay curse is likely to get broken soon. Locales have somehow forgotten the delays and are relived to hear it opening in the numbered days, it is hoped that the hardships overcame by the project leaves a positive impact on the future travellers of the flyover. This flyover will play an important role in the connectivity to the Mumbai roads and the Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) promised that it will ahead get connected to the forthcoming Coastal Road and Goregaon Mulund Link Road offering the speedy access to the strained routes easily.
