Crawford Market Fire Mumbai: Early Morning Blaze Doused, No Injuries Reported

Mumbai; A fire broke out during the early hours at Mumbai’s busy Crawford Market, prompting a swift response from emergency services. According to a report by *Free Press Journal*, the incident occurred near the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Market area on L.T. Road.

Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell stated that the blaze was confined to a limited portion of a ground-floor commercial unit within a single-storey structure. The affected area measured approximately 15 by 50 feet.

The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) classified the incident as a Level-I fire, indicating a minor blaze. Firefighters were deployed promptly and managed to bring the situation under control within roughly two hours. The operation concluded successfully without any injuries or casualties, as confirmed by fire officials.

The flames caused damage to several items within the premises. Electrical wiring and installations were impacted, along with appliances such as an air conditioning unit, a television set, and a ceiling fan. Other affected items included a CCTV camera, wooden furnishings, and various stored goods such as pet food supplies and plastic materials.

Visuals of the incident also surfaced on social media, with news agency IANS sharing updates regarding the fire. The post highlighted that multiple units responded quickly, ensuring the blaze did not spread further or result in harm to people in the vicinity.

Authorities have stated that the exact cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage. An investigation is currently underway to determine what led to the incident.

Crawford Market, one of Mumbai’s most prominent commercial hubs, witnesses heavy daily footfall, making timely containment of such incidents crucial to prevent larger disruptions or risks.
