Trump’s Portrait Inside New ‘Patriot Passport’ as US Marks 250 Years of Independence

Washington: The White House on Tuesday unveiled a limited-edition “Patriot Passport” featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump on the inside cover, introduced by the State Department to mark the United States’ 250th anniversary of independence.

“Patriot passport unlocked. Limited edition. Stamped for America 250,” the White House wrote alongside the first look. A follow-up video showed the passport retaining its standard deep blue exterior, with Trump’s portrait appearing on the inside cover. The White House captioned that clip with only the US flag emoji.

White House spokesperson Olivia Wales said the “new patriotic passport design provides yet another great way Americans can join in the spectacular celebrations for America’s 250th birthday,” adding that Trump “continues to proudly lead a renewal of national pride and patriotism during our historic semiquincentennial celebration.”

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott told NBC News: “As the United States celebrates America’s 250th anniversary in July, the State Department is preparing to release a limited number of specially designed US Passports to commemorate this historic occasion.”

King Charles at the White House: ‘You’d Be Speaking French’

The passport reveal came on the same day that UK King Charles III and Queen Camilla attended a state dinner at the White House. Charles used the occasion for a string of jokes and historical digs.

Responding to Trump’s January remarks at Davos where Trump said Europe would be “speaking German and a little Japanese” without American help in World War II Charles turned the tables.

“You recently commented, Mr. President, that if it were not for the United States, European countries would be speaking German. Dare I say that, if it wasn’t for us, you’d be speaking French,” Charles said.

He also acknowledged the ongoing renovations to the White House east wing, where Trump is constructing a ballroom, calling it “readjustments.” Then, in a reference to British soldiers burning the White House in 1814, he said: “I am sorry to say that we British, of course, made our own attempt at real estate redevelopment of the White House in 1814.” Charles also brought up the Boston Tea Party, describing the dinner as “a very considerable improvement” on it.

Trump praised the speech, remarking: “He got the Democrats to stand I’ve never been able to do that.” The two leaders also discussed Iran, which is currently under a ceasefire. Trump said during his address that King Charles does not want Iran to have a nuclear weapon.
