Trump Threatens Action Against Iran After Qatar Gas Facility Attack

Washington: Amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, US President Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to Iran following reported missile strikes on Qatar’s key liquefied natural gas (LNG) infrastructure. According to a report by Hindustan Times, Trump cautioned that any further attacks by Tehran on Qatar could trigger a severe US response, including the destruction of Iran’s South Pars gas field.
The warning came after Iran allegedly launched missiles targeting Qatar’s energy facilities, causing significant concern in global energy markets. The South Pars gas field, shared between Iran and Qatar, is considered the world’s largest natural gas reserve and plays a critical role in global energy supply.
Trump stated that the United States had no prior knowledge of Israel’s earlier strike on the South Pars facility and emphasised that Qatar was also not involved. He added that Israel would refrain from conducting further attacks on the gas field. However, he made it clear that if Iran continues its aggression against Qatar, the US would respond with overwhelming force.
The US President also indicated reluctance to escalate the conflict further, citing potential long-term consequences for the region. Despite this, he maintained that protecting Qatar and its energy infrastructure remains a priority.
The developments come amid a broader conflict involving Iran, Israel, and their allies, which has already disrupted energy supplies and heightened geopolitical tensions. The situation has raised fears of further instability in the Gulf region, with global markets closely monitoring any escalation that could impact oil and gas production.
As reported by Hindustan Times, Trump’s remarks reflect a balancing act between avoiding further escalation and signalling readiness to respond decisively if provoked.
