Trump Slams NATO Allies As “Cowards” Over Iran War Refusal

Washington : U.S. President Donald Trump has launched a sharp verbal attack on America’s traditional allies, labeling them “cowards” for their refusal to provide military backing in the escalating conflict with Iran. In a series of statements that have sent ripples through the international community, the President expressed his deep frustration over the lack of support for operations aimed at securing the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route.

According to a report by NDTV, Trump took to his Truth Social platform to vent his grievances, posting, “COWARDS, and we will REMEMBER!” The Republican leader specifically targeted NATO members, arguing that the United States has historically provided immense support to the alliance, yet is being left to shoulder the military burden alone in the Persian Gulf. He noted that while these nations frequently complain about the resulting surge in global oil prices, they remain unwilling to contribute the necessary military assets to reopen the chokepoint.

The President further emphasized that it is in the collective interest of all allies to prevent Tehran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Despite his rhetoric, several major powers including Britain, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan issued a joint statement via UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office. While they condemned Iran’s “criminal” attacks on commercial shipping and called for an immediate halt to the laying of mines and missile strikes, they stopped short of joining the U.S.-led military offensive.

As the conflict enters its third week, the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed. NDTV reports that at least 23 commercial vessels, including 10 tankers, have been targeted as Iran retaliates with strikes across the region. While allies have agreed to “appropriate efforts” to stabilize energy markets, the rift between Washington and its partners continues to widen over the direct use of force.
