PM Modi Visits 1200 Year Old Prambanan Temple In Indonesia

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto visited Yogyakarta’s Prambanan Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site. In keeping with Indonesia’s rich cultural legacy, the Prime Minister was given a traditional welcome that included a classical Yogyakarta dance performance and the resonating notes of a gamelan ensemble.

PM Modi prayed in the main Shiva temple during the two leaders’ visit of the 9th-century temple complex. Before seeing the current conservation works being aided by India-Indonesia collaboration, they also looked at the temple’s elaborate sculptures.

President Prabowo stated in a joint statement that Prambanan represents the centuries-old cultural connection between Indonesia and India. He stated that culture still acts as a link between the two countries and thanked India for its help in the preservation and restoration of the temple complex.

The visit was a profoundly spiritual and unforgettable event, according to PM Modi. He stated that India’s involvement in the temple’s preservation shows the two nations’ shared cultural history and praised the Indonesian people for maintaining this wonderful legacy for almost twelve centuries. The Prime Minister thanked President Prabowo for his kind hospitality during his three-day State Visit to Indonesia and expressed hope that the restoration project will further deepen people-to-people connections.
