After presenting the World Cup trophy to Spain captain Rodri, Trump appeared reluctant to leave the stage, remaining in the camera frame as the Spanish players prepared to celebrate.

Rodri was seen subtly signalling Trump to move aside, but the US President stayed on the podium, prompting FIFA President Gianni Infantino to step in and escort him towards the edge of the stage. The moment, captured on the official broadcast and widely shared on social media, quickly went viral, with many viewers describing the interaction as awkward. Even after Infantino guided him away, Trump remained standing beside the Spanish players as they lifted the trophy.

Another clip circulating online appeared to show Argentina defender Cristian Romero walking past Trump without shaking his hand during the post-match ceremony, adding to the discussion surrounding the event on social media. Trump and FIFA President Gianni Infantino were also met with loud boos from sections of the crowd as they walked onto the pitch for the trophy presentation following Spain’s 1-0 victory over defending champions Argentina.

Trump sat next to his close friend Infantino, watching Spain defeat holders Argentina 1-0 in front of a star-studded crowd of 80,000 people at the venue outside New York.
