Netanyahu Claims He Alerted Australian Leader to Rising Antisemitism Following Deadly Bondi Beach Attack

JERUSALEM — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu revealed on Sunday that he had previously cautioned Australia’s leader about policies that he believes are contributing to antisemitism in the country.

The statement comes in the wake of a devastating shooting at Sydney’s Bondi Beach, where gunmen opened fire on participants at a Jewish holiday event. Australian authorities have classified the incident as a terrorist attack, reporting at least 12 fatalities and nearly 30 injuries.

Netanyahu described the assault as “cold-blooded murder” and emphasized that antisemitism flourishes when leaders fail to speak out against it.

“You must replace weakness with action,” he urged.

The attack occurred on Sunday, with police confirming one shooter was killed and another detained. The event targeted a gathering celebrating a Jewish holiday at the iconic beach location.

Netanyahu’s remarks highlight ongoing concerns from Israel regarding the handling of antisemitic incidents abroad, particularly in the context of heightened global tensions.
