At least one person was killed on Wednesday in a bomb attack at the Moghbazar flyover in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Several others reportedly suffered injuries of varying severity and were rushed to nearby hospitals for urgent treatment, while police cordoned off the area as the attackers fled immediately after the blast.
Witnesses reported a sudden, loud explosion that triggered panic in the busy locality. The blast took place around 7:30 pm in front of the Muktijoddha Sangsad, on Christmas Eve, and comes just days after a Hindu man was lynched by a mob over alleged blasphemy.

The victim has been identified as 24-year-old Siam, an employee of Zahid Car Decoration, a shop situated beneath the flyover. Police officials are currently present at the scene, overseeing the probe and security arrangements.
According to initial reports, Siam had stepped out to have tea when a crude bomb, described as a cocktail bomb, was thrown from the Moghbazar flyover and exploded on the road below. Visuals from the spot have emerged, showing the aftermath of the attack.
Emergency response teams arrived shortly after the explosion and began rescue operations, as the blast reportedly occurred when the market was crowded. No organisation has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
