No Discussion Before Pradhan’s Exit: Rahul Gandhi’s Three Demands Over NEET

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday declared that the Opposition would not participate in any discussion in Parliament until Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is removed from office. Linking the Opposition’s stand to the ongoing student protests over the alleged NEET paper leak, Gandhi outlined three demands that he said must be met before any dialogue could take place.

Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha said the protesters were seeking the dismissal of the Education Minister, action against those responsible for allegedly assaulting students during the demonstrations, and an apology from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The students have three demands — the Education Minister must go, those who attacked protesting students must face action, and the Prime Minister should apologise. Until Mr Pradhan is removed, there will be no discussion,” Gandhi said.

The remarks came as the Lok Sabha witnessed another day of disruptions over the NEET controversy. Shortly after the House reconvened at noon, Opposition members raised slogans demanding Pradhan’s resignation and entered the Well of the House, forcing repeated interruptions before proceedings were adjourned until 11 am on Saturday.

Amid the deadlock, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to the Opposition to participate in a debate on the NEET issue, arguing that refusing a discussion would send the wrong message to the country. He reiterated that the government was prepared for a full-fledged debate in Parliament.

Presiding officer Jagdambika Pal also urged Opposition MPs to end their protest and allow the House to function. He asked them to raise their concerns before Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and help restore order so that Parliament could take up the discussion on the issue.
