Vijay Breaks Silence On Divorce Row and Cheating Allegations, Tells Fans: ‘Don’t Feel Sad Or Worried For Me’
Tamil superstar and politician Vijay has spoken publicly for the first time since reports emerged about divorce proceedings initiated by his wife Sangeetha Sornalingam, urging his supporters not to be distressed by the controversies surrounding his personal life.
Vijay Addresses Controversies at TVK Women’s Day Event
Speaking at an International Women’s Day event organised by his political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) in Mamallapuram, Vijay addressed the swirling speculation toward the end of his address. “Recently, there have been many controversies. I can see that many of you are supporting me and are hurt by them. Seeing that hurts me as well. I will take care of it. Let’s concentrate only on people’s issues. Those matters are not worth it, so please don’t hurt yourselves over them,” he told the packed hall of supporters.

The actor-politician delivered a nearly 24-minute speech in which he also announced a series of welfare schemes for women, including a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500, six LPG cylinders per year, eight grams of gold for marriages, free bus travel across Tamil Nadu, and a gold ring for newborn babies.
Sangeetha Files for Divorce at Chengalpattu Court
Vijay’s public statement comes days after Sangeetha filed a petition at the Chengalpattu District Court in Tamil Nadu seeking dissolution of their marriage. The couple wed in 1999 and have two children together, making theirs a marriage spanning more than two decades. According to court documents, Sangeetha has also sought interim relief permitting her to remain in their matrimonial home in Chennai while proceedings continue.
The case has attracted considerable attention given Vijay’s standing as one of Tamil cinema’s biggest stars and his growing presence in state politics.
Infidelity Allegations and Trisha Sighting Fuel Speculation
Reports linked to the divorce case have included allegations of infidelity and emotional distress, intensifying media coverage and triggering widespread discussion across social media platforms. The controversy gained further momentum after Vijay was spotted alongside actress Trisha Krishnan at a recent public event, prompting fresh speculation online about the nature of their relationship. Neither Vijay nor Trisha has issued any public statement addressing those rumours.
