A Rs 20 lakh investment and an alleged plan to put the money into Chinese stocks have emerged as a key part of the Central Bureau of Investigation’s chargesheet in the death of former model and actor Twisha Sharma. The CBI has alleged that financial pressure was among the reasons for the mental cruelty she faced at her matrimonial home.
According to the chargesheet, Twisha had a demat account containing equity investments worth around Rs 20 lakh. The CBI claims that her husband, Samarth Singh, and his mother, Giribala Singh, came to know about the investments and allegedly pressured her to transfer the money.
The investigation found that a joint bank account in the names of Twisha and Samarth was opened at the State Bank of India’s Bagmugaliya branch on April 7, 2026. The CBI alleges that the account was intended to facilitate the transfer of the investment money. However, Twisha refused, saying that the money belonged to her father. The agency has treated the alleged pressure over the money as part of the mental cruelty she was subjected to.

The financial dispute reportedly came up again on the evening of May 12, the day Twisha died. According to the CBI chargesheet, she called her friend Rashi Abrol at around 7:51 pm. During the conversation, Twisha allegedly said that Samarth was pressuring her to transfer her investment so that it could be put into the “Chinese Share Market”. She also reportedly told her friend that she had decided to return.
The chargesheet says the situation became increasingly tense later that evening. At around 9:20 pm, Twisha reportedly called Abrol again while crying. She allegedly spoke about an argument with Samarth, after which the call ended. A call made to her at around 9:29 pm reportedly ended with Twisha sobbing.
At 9:36 pm, she sent a final message to her sister-in-law, Rashi Abrol. The CBI has described the message as an important part of its investigation into the events before her death.
The CBI has filed a chargesheet against Samarth Singh and Giribala Singh, accusing them of cruelty towards Twisha and abetment of suicide. The agency’s case is based on allegations and evidence collected during the investigation, and the accused will have the opportunity to respond to the charges in court.
The investigation is not yet completely over. The CBI is still awaiting forensic extraction of data from phones and CCTV-related material, which could provide more information about what happened inside the house on the night of Twisha’s death.
