Three domestically constructed Indian Navy platforms—INS Dunagiri, INS Sanshodhak, and INS Agray—will be put into service by Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow in Kolkata.
The ships were designed by the Navy’s Warship Design Bureau and constructed by Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers with the goal of enhancing anti-submarine warfare, hydrographic surveying, and combat operations.
The Project 17A stealth frigate INS Dunagiri is equipped with medium-range air defense systems and BrahMos missiles. While INS Agray is an anti-submarine warfare vessel with torpedoes, rocket launchers, and sonar systems for coastal defense, INS Sanshodhak is a survey vessel built for deep-water and coastal hydrographic activities.
According to the Navy, the ships employ more than 200 micro, small, and medium-sized businesses and contain more than 75% indigenous material, demonstrating the expansion of India’s domestic shipbuilding sector.
