‘Protest A Form Of Dialogue’: RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

RSS president Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday (August 6, 2026) stated protest is a form of discourse at a gathering of Gen Z and Gen Alpha.

In a democracy, protest is a technique of gaining consensus, the RSS chief remarked. Mr. Bhagwat was meeting with Gen Z and Gen Alpha at an IIMUN-organized youth conference. In light of recent events, Gen Z’s complaints are legitimate.

He stated that the current generation seeks logical solutions. “Compared to our generation, Gen Z is more honest. However, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar outlined the procedures in the Constitution. We have to see that if Gen Z is shouting, they are doing so owing to their problems. “We must address the problems they encounter,” he stated.

Bhagwat stated that society must learn self-discipline and confirm information from reliable sources before believing anything online, and that banning social media is not the answer to its negative impacts.

Mr. Bhagwat claimed that society must learn self-discipline and confirm information from reliable sources before believing anything online, and that outlawing social media is not the answer to its negative impacts.

According to Mr. Bhagwat, laws and regulations by themselves won’t be effective unless people’s perspectives shift.

“Discipline and rules are essential, but they only work when attitudes shift. Numerous legislation have been passed. “Changing people’s mindsets is what matters,” he stated.

The head of RSS cautioned against misusing technology and advised people not to rely solely on social media content.

Our voices and faces can now be used by technology to produce phony videos. People should never trust anything they read on social media without first confirming it with reliable sources, he advised.

Additionally, Mr. Bhagwat stated that social media influencers had an obligation to their followers.

“If I become a social media star and ten lakh people follow me, it is my duty to make sure they don’t run into any issues as a result of following me. That kind of wisdom is essential,” he stated.

He urged self-control, saying that the elder age should teach the younger generation how to use social media sensibly.

“We need self-imposed discipline in using social media. Regulations will be effective once such discipline is established, he said.

Responding to a query on whether India should prohibit social media for youngsters, as has been done by some other nations, Mr. Bhagwat said limitation was not the answer. “When something is outlawed, it just goes to the illicit market and spreads even farther. The entire society has to respond to this challenge jointly.

The government’s efforts won’t be successful until then, he stated. Additionally, Mr. Bhagwat stated that he agreed with the proposal to raise education spending to six percent of GDP. He stated, “Education should be structured so that it is available to everyone; it is not a commercial business.”

Society should also contribute to improving the status of education, the RSS chief said. Employment does not only constitute jobs but also entrepreneurship, Mr. Bhagwat remarked.
