
Pune: Fresh concerns have emerged over aviation safety after a training aircraft operated by Redbird Aviation crash-landed near Baramati Airport in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday morning. According to the Free Press Journal, the incident involved a Tecnam P2008JC aircraft bearing registration VT-RFY during a solo training sortie near Gojubavi village.
In an official statement released after the incident, Redbird Aviation confirmed that the cadet pilot onboard escaped safely and no injuries were reported. The company stated that the situation was under control and that it was coordinating with authorities to carry out the necessary procedures. The academy also said that a more detailed update would be issued after a complete assessment and investigation into the matter.
According to Pune Rural Police, the incident occurred around 8:50 am close to the airport area. Preliminary findings and eyewitness accounts suggested that the aircraft was flying at a low altitude when it experienced a technical malfunction. During the emergency landing attempt, a part of the aircraft reportedly struck a light pole before the plane came down on the ground.

Police officials immediately reached the crash site after receiving information about the incident, and an inquiry has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the emergency landing. Authorities have not reported any casualties or major injuries in the incident.
The latest crash-landing has once again drawn attention to Redbird Aviation’s safety record, as the academy has faced multiple incidents involving training aircraft in recent years. The development has intensified discussions around maintenance standards and flight safety protocols at training institutes operating near Baramati Airport.
