Private Trainer Aircraft Crashes Near Baramati Airstrip in Maharashtra’s Pune, No Casualties

A private company’s trainer aircraft crashed near the Baramati airstrip in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Sunday (August 9), officials said. The incident took place at around 12:35 pm within the airport premises, a short distance from the runway.

No casualties were reported in the incident. The aircraft suffered minor damage. Further details regarding the crash are awaited.

The incident marks the second trainer aircraft crash at Baramati in recent months. On May 13, another private trainer aircraft crashed near Gojubavi village, close to the Baramati airstrip.

That incident also did not result in any serious injuries. The trainee pilot, who was the aircraft’s sole occupant, escaped unhurt.

In the May 13 incident, part of the aircraft struck an electric pole shortly before landing.

“As per preliminary information received from witnesses, the aircraft was flying at a comparatively low altitude when it developed a technical malfunction. During the crash landing, one side of the aircraft reportedly hit an electric pole before it struck the ground,” an officer had said.
