Akhilesh Yadav Demands Thorough Probe into Death of Prateek Yadav

The abrupt passing of Prateek Yadav, the younger son of former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, has sent ripples of shock and sorrow through political circles while prompting calls for a detailed investigation.

Prateek Yadav was rushed to Lucknow’s Civil Hospital in the early hours by a group of around 20 individuals, but doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Given the unclear circumstances, authorities ordered a postmortem under heightened medical oversight. The procedure took place at King George’s Medical University (KGMU) in Lucknow, supervised by the Chief Medical Officer and carried out by a dedicated team of doctors. Sources indicated the autopsy has been completed, with the body set to be handed over to the family soon.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav arrived at the KGMU postmortem facility and spent approximately 40 minutes there. Emerging visibly moved, he portrayed Prateek as a diligent, fitness-oriented, and forward-looking individual. Akhilesh recalled speaking with him just two months earlier, urging greater attention to health alongside business expansion. He also alluded to potential financial strains, noting how business setbacks can take a heavy emotional toll. These observations have fueled discussions about whether work-related or personal pressures contributed to the tragedy.

The Samajwadi Party has formally called for a comprehensive legal and high-level inquiry, stressing that the sudden demise of a 38-year-old man known for his focus on physical well-being leaves many questions unanswered. Crowds of supporters, family members, and associates have assembled at both KGMU and the family home in Lucknow, underscoring the incident’s deep personal and political resonance. The postmortem report is anticipated to shed initial official light on the precise cause of death.
