New Delhi: On completing one year of Operation Sindoor, Prime Minister Narendra Modi changed his social media’s display picture on Thursday.

The profile pictures on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official accounts on X, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp Channel have been updated to a black-themed image featuring the words “Operation Sindoor.” The graphic includes the Indian tricolour, while one of the letters ‘O’ in “SINDOOR” is highlighted with vermilion, or sindoor which is traditionally associated with married Hindu women.

PM Modi’s Appeal To All

Narendra Modi tweets, “A year ago, during #OperationSindoor, our armed forces showcased their valour and gave a firm response to those who attacked our people. Every Indian is proud of our armed forces. As a mark of respect to our forces and their success during #OperationSindoor, let us all change our display pictures on social media, including X, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp to the picture shared below. “

Already from Modi Cabinet -Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Ashwini Viashnaw to NDA Chief Ministers such as CM Yogi Adityanath, CM Devendra Fadnavis to CM Bhupendra Patel, etc, NDA seems to carry this wave of trend symbolizing patriotism.

He urged every citizen to change their social media’s DP (Display Picture) as a mark of respect to our forces and success of Operation Sindoor that led to formulating 3 new doctrines that shaped India’s New Normal- decisive retaliation to any terror attack, zero tolerance for nuclear blackmail, and no distinction between terrorists and their state sponsors. Operation Sindoor has set the standards for the rest of the world that this New India won’t bow down and stay calm against any terror acts.

Operation Sindoor

“Operation Sindoor” was the name given to a military operation launched by India in May 2025 following the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians were killed. According to the Indian government, the operation targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

The name “Sindoor” carries symbolic meaning in Indian culture. Sindoor (vermilion) is traditionally worn by married Hindu women, and the operation’s title was widely seen as a reference to the families affected by the attack.

According to official statements, Indian armed forces struck nine locations linked to militant groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. The government described the action as “focused, measured and non-escalatory,” saying military installations in Pakistan were not targeted.

The operation has since become a major political and national security reference point in India, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and government agencies continuing to mention it in speeches, commemorations, and social media campaigns.
