As India strives to become a Viksit Bharat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated today that the country’s youth must be mentally tough, physically healthy, and self-assured. Speaking at today’s virtual launch of Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan in New Delhi, PM Modi advised youth to always abstain from narcotics and adopt a healthy lifestyle.
The event will be the start of a 100-week national Jan Bhagidari campaign against substance misuse, he continued. According to PM Modi, weekly events would be held every Sunday throughout the nation to raise awareness and motivate people to get involved in creating a society free of drugs.
According to PM Modi, drug addiction keeps people from reaching their objectives and desires. He claimed that addiction undermines the power of the country in addition to destroying families. He emphasized that young people need to be aware of the grave repercussions of addiction in order to safeguard them from the threat posed by drugs. PM Modi emphasized that narcotics eventually wreck people’s futures, ruin careers, and interfere with family life. Due to social shame, the prime minister advised families not to conceal substance usage situations. In order to aid in the recovery of impacted family members, he advised them to seek prompt assistance, talk honestly, consult specialists, and utilize medical support.
He emphasized that in order to spot warning signs early on and give children timely help, families must cultivate an environment of open communication.
Additionally, PM Modi stated that behavioral changes including social isolation, strange behavior, avoiding discussions, staying out late, or constantly requesting money could be early signs of substance usage. Additionally, he urged educators at schools, colleges, and universities to plan campus awareness programs and have regular conversations with students about the risks of drug usage.
According to him, their efforts can have a big impact on stopping young people from abusing drugs. Over one crore young people from 28,000 sites throughout the nation took part in the event. State governors, chief ministers, volunteers from MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme, as well as participants from schools, colleges, universities, youth clubs, non-governmental organizations, and spiritual groups, are among the participants.
