New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched a massive, coordinated offensive on Thursday, executing simultaneous raids at more than 80 spots across India. This sweeping enforcement action targets the sophisticated “digital arrest” fraud syndicates that have increasingly targeted citizens nationwide over recent years.
Coordinated Multi-State Crackdown
Operating under the strategic umbrella of Operation Chakra-VI, the central premier investigative agency mobilized 60 specialized teams to simultaneously target nodes of the illicit network. The expansive, multi-state operation spanned 16 states across the country, according to news media reports by Mint.
The targeted search operations covered a vast geographical layout, including:
- Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Delhi
- Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh
- Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka
- West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, and Odisha
Key Arrests Secured
Initial outcomes from the multi-city raids indicate that the investigative teams have successfully apprehended two key individuals associated with the cyber-fraud apparatus. Official details shared by Mint confirm that one arrest was executed in Kolkata, while the second suspect was taken into custody in Chennai.
The nationwide enforcement action remains fluid as specialized units continue to process evidence gathered across the 80 targeted locations.
