Ladakh: India’s geothermal energy sector has gained renewed attention after Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) reported encouraging results from its geothermal exploration project in Ladakh. Unlike solar and wind energy, geothermal power offers round-the-clock electricity generation because it relies on heat naturally stored beneath the Earth’s surface. Experts cited by Business Today noted that geothermal energy could provide a stable and dependable source of renewable power with lower carbon emissions.
