Parle Melody toffees sold out across multiple neighbourhoods on quick-commerce platforms including Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart after a video of Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifting a packet of the caramel-filled toffee to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni went viral during his visit to Rome.
In the clip, Modi presents Meloni with a pack of Melody toffees a nod to the popular “Melodi” internet meme combining their names. Meloni is seen responding, “Thank you for the gift.” The video triggered a sharp spike in orders for Melody toffees across India, with the product showing as “out of stock” across several areas, particularly in Delhi-NCR.
The Melody toffee, manufactured by Parle Products, is a caramel candy with a chocolate filling and has been a staple in the Indian confectionery market for decades.
