Uttar Pradesh: Under the pretext of presenting himself as a spiritual baba, a few students fell prey to his offerings of guidance and were sexually abused by a 29-year-old self-styled man posing as a spiritual mentor. In parts of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a case of false identity and manipulation has been reported.
The accused, named Abhishek Mishra, lured women by offering guidance and eventually ended up drugging, raping, and blackmailing his victims. He forged his identity under the name of Adikarta Narayan Das and was arrested on Monday after a complaint was filed by one of his victims. “The arrested 29-year-old accused from Bhubaneshwar in Odisha, Abhishek Mishra, had named himself as Adikarta Narain Dass. He passed out from IIT Roorkee (2017-2021 batch) in the year 2021 but went for religious preaching online and shifted to Radha Kund in the Goverdhan area of Mathura three years ago,” stated Superintendent of Police (Rural) Mathura. The police official identified him as a posing guru who brainwashed and trapped youth, misleading them under his influence.

“The accused trapped a girl from Chhattisgarh and brainwashed her through his preachings and established physical relations with her. The victim girl lodged a complaint of rape against the accused on May 25 at the Goverdhan police station and, in this regard, the accused was arrested on Monday,” said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Goverdhan circle of Mathura.
The woman who filed the complaint explained how she was lured by him by being offered a glass of milk in the name of “prasad” (a sacred offering). She suspected intoxicants were mixed in the milk, as she drank it and lost consciousness. Later, remembering fragments of being sexually assaulted, Abhishek allegedly clicked obscene photographs from the moment and blackmailed her to give 5 lakhs, otherwise, he would post the pictures online. Further investigation led to the discovery and rescue of two young women and a man from Abhishek’s premises.
The motive and cause of the crime are being investigated by the police while the bogus baba is detained by the UP police.
