Arvind Kejriwal and a hundred others attempted to march to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home on Tuesday to deliver lakhs of petitions against E20 petrol, but were stopped by the Delhi Police.
When he was stopped in the middle, Kejriwal told police, “We are not terrorists, we want to meet PM Modi over the E20 fuel issue, kindly inform him that we want to meet.”
Saurabh Bhardwaj, the leader of the AAP in Delhi, noted that they have brought “lakhs of petitions” and want to talk about ethanol.
“We want to deliver the petition to the Prime Minister and ask him to organize a conversation on ethanol. We have discussed with the police officers the fact that people have come here with lakhs of petitions. A conversation ought to take place. A letter has been written by Arvind Kejriwal. In press conferences, we have informed the Prime Minister on multiple occasions,” Saurabh Bhardwaj stated. According to a police source, the march was not authorized.
It was referred to as a “meaningless campaign” by BJP MP Tarun Chugh.
“His campaign is ridiculous and pointless; it lacks knowledge and logic. Every action has been carried out in a scientific manner. His actions are detrimental to farmers in India. The BJP MP stated, “Ethanol means protection for farmers.”
Rahul Gandhi led a march to the prime minister’s house last month in protest of the police crackdown on students who were demonstrating and calling for educational reforms. He was taken away by force and held for a short time.
“I will go to the PM’s mansion tomorrow together with 100 people to personally hand over the petitions signed by the public and discuss issues pertaining to ethanol-blended petrol. People are having many problems in their automobiles and despite all that the administration is continuing with this, which implies there is a hidden goal,” Kejriwal stated during a press conference yesterday. The former Delhi Chief Minister said he would personally hand over the petitions to PM Modi after receiving no response to a letter he sent to the Prime Minister last month seeking an appointment to discuss concerns over E20 petrol.
In addition to requesting a decrease in the cost of ethanol-blended gasoline, Kejriwal’s letter asked for the availability of options for both pure gasoline and E20 fuel at gas stations.
“We will personally deliver the petition to PM Modi since we received no answer to the letter. We had started a petition drive against gasoline that had been combined with ethanol. “This petition has been signed by over two lakh people,” he stated.
Kejriwal added that the AAP’s “Ethanol Townhall” last week was a “huge success” because so many people participated remotely.
Kejriwal’s announcement to march to the prime minister’s residence, according to Delhi BJP president Harsh Malhotra, is part of the continuing contest between him and the Congress to become the nation’s leading anarchist.
He claimed that Kejriwal seemed to be lagging behind in this politics of disruption ever since the Congress had a demonstration at the prime minister’s home. According to Malhotra, Kejriwal made up for it by declaring that he would march without permission to the prime minister’s home over the ethanol problem.
According to Malhotra, Kejriwal’s political approach has always been to create chaos first, then play the victim card.
“Tomorrow, when the police prevent him from entering the Prime Minister’s residence without permission, Kejriwal will once again play the victim card and claim that the government refused even to hold talks with him,” Malhotra stated.
