Israel To Install Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Statue In Major City As Symbol Of India-Israel Friendship
Jerusalem: Israel has announced plans to set up a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in one of its major cities as a gesture of friendship and cultural respect towards India. The announcement was made by Israel’s Consul General in Mumbai, Yaniv Revach, during his meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
According to NDTV and ANI, the initiative is being seen as an important cultural and diplomatic step aimed at strengthening ties between India and Israel. Revach highlighted the significance of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Indian history and said Israel wanted the memorial to truly reflect the Maratha ruler’s legacy and influence.
Maharashtra Government Assures Full Cooperation
While speaking about the project, Yaniv Revach said the Israeli side had approached Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis for assistance related to historical references, artistic guidance, and design inputs for the proposed statue. He added that the Maharashtra Chief Minister immediately agreed to support the initiative.

On the occasion of Shivrajyabhishek Day, Revach also shared the announcement publicly and described the project as a symbol of the growing friendship between the two nations. He praised Shivaji Maharaj’s leadership and historical importance while expressing confidence that the monument would become a meaningful tribute.
Devendra Fadnavis Welcomes Announcement
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed Israel’s decision and thanked the Israeli Consulate for choosing to honour Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in this manner. Calling it a historic initiative, Fadnavis assured complete support from the Maharashtra government for the successful execution of the memorial project.
The announcement was made around the celebration of Shivaji Maharaj’s coronation anniversary, further adding cultural significance to the development.

The proposed statue is being viewed as another milestone in the strengthening relationship between India and Israel.
