India Post Launches 24 And 48 Hour Delivery Premium Services

New Delhi: The Department of Posts has introduced three premium delivery services offering assured 24-hour and 48-hour timelines, as part of efforts to modernise operations and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving logistics sector, according to a report by The Pioneer, citing Press Trust of India (PTI).
The newly launched services-24 Speed Post, 24 Speed Post Parcel, and 48 Speed Post are designed to cater to urgent and time-sensitive shipments. Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who unveiled the initiative, said the move represents a significant step in repositioning India Post in the fast-growing delivery market.
In the initial phase, the services will be available across six major cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The department plans to expand coverage nationwide by March 2027. To ensure timely deliveries, the system will rely on dedicated processing channels and priority air transport.
According to official statements, the new offerings will include features such as OTP-based delivery confirmation, real-time SMS updates, and end-to-end tracking of consignments. Businesses will also benefit from flexible payment options like ‘Book Now, Pay Later’ (BNPL), centralised billing systems, and API integration for operational ease.
Additionally, bulk customers will have access to free pickup services, while a money-back guarantee will be provided in cases where delivery timelines are not met.
Highlighting the broader market potential, Scindia noted that India’s e-commerce sector is projected to grow to ₹30 lakh crore by 2030, nearly three times its current size. He emphasised that while parcels currently account for a small share of India Post’s business, they are expected to play a central role in future growth.
As reported by The Pioneer, the initiative reflects India Post’s strategy to strengthen its position as a key player in the logistics and parcel delivery ecosystem.
