Nagaur : In a significant security operation conducted just before Republic Day, authorities in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district recovered a substantial quantity of explosive materials from an abandoned farmhouse. The seizure, which occurred following specific intelligence inputs, has averted a potential major threat during the national celebrations.
Rajasthan Police raided the site in Harsaur village and confiscated approximately 10,000 kg of explosives, primarily consisting of 9,550 kg of ammonium nitrate-a compound commonly associated with both industrial applications and improvised devices. In addition to the ammonium nitrate, officers recovered a considerable stockpile of explosive accessories. These included nine cartons filled with detonators, along with 12 cartons and 15 bundles of safety fuse, as reported by multiple sources.

During the operation, police arrested one individual identified as Suleman, who was taken into custody in connection with the illicit possession and storage of the materials. The raid stemmed from credible tip-offs indicating that the explosives had been stockpiled at the deserted farm location.
Officials have indicated that the consignment may be linked to illegal mining activities, where ammonium nitrate is frequently used for blasting in marble and stone quarries prevalent in the region. However, given the timing,on the eve of Republic Day and the scale of the haul, central agencies are expected to join the investigation to determine any broader implications or possible misuse intentions.
The recovered items have been secured, and further probes are underway to trace the source of the explosives and any associated networks. Authorities emphasized that the timely action has bolstered security arrangements across the state during the sensitive period.
This incident underscores the ongoing challenges in regulating and monitoring high-risk materials in areas with heavy industrial and mining operations, even as law enforcement remains vigilant ahead of major national events.
