New Delhi : Commemorating the adoption of Constitution in 1950 India marks its 77th Republic Day today. In New Delhi, the national celebrations will take place at Kartayva path near India Gate, commencing with the flag hoisting and the Republic Day parade.
The celebration will begin with President Droupadi Murmu unfurling the National Flag at 10.30 am whereas Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay homage to fallen soldiers at the National War Memorial, formally initiating the proceedings.

António Costa, the head of the European Council, and Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Commission, will attend Republic Day 2026, a sign of India’s growing ties to the EU.
“150 Years of Vande Mataram” is the subject for Republic Day 2026, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the national anthem composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The song is at the center of this year’s festivities and is connected to India’s freedom and cultural identity through the theme that permeates the parade, cultural performances, and public outreach.
With entry gates opened for spectators at 7 am, the parade is scheduled to begin at 9.30 am. The grand procession will be led by General Bhavnish Kumar featuring 6,065 participants. The ceremony will also include 12 military bands along with 8 pipe bands.

Viewers who can’t attend the celebration at Delhi can watch it live on Doordarshan’s Youtube Channel or even the broadcast channel of doordarshan whereas for people who wish to attend the ceremony can avail passes online or offline priced between Rs. 20 and Rs. 100.
This time on the Republic Day parade 30 tableaux- 17 from State and Union Territories, 13 from Department, Services and Ministries will be exhibited highlighting India’s diverse culture and tradition, national achievements and development milestones.
