According to officials, Virender Singh Basoya, a prominent member of the drug syndicate, was returned to India from Dubai. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) issued a Red Corner Notice against Basoya, an accused in the Rs 6,000-crore Pune narcotics case. After being detained in Dubai and deported on the Government of India’s initiative, Basoya was transported to India on an Air India flight (AI 4310).
Officials claim that Basoya is a close friend of Sandeep Dhuniya, the main defendant in a significant narcotics case involving 13,000 cases. According to reports, Dhuniya moved to Pakistan after escaping Dubai. The government’s efforts to combat global drug networks are considered as having advanced significantly with Basoya’s return to India.
The government has taken a “ruthless approach” to locating drug traffickers who are hiding overseas and dismantling their networks, according to Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Shah claimed in a post on X that the NCB had managed to bring fugitive drug lord Virender Singh Basoya back from the United Arab Emirates, calling it a significant achievement in the government’s zero-tolerance approach to drug use.
According to Shah, Indian authorities used a “top-to-bottom and bottom-to-top approach” to track down Basoya. No matter where they hide, narcotics dealers would not be able to evade Indian law, he continued.
