Delhi Horror: IRS Officer’s 22-Year-Old Daughter Strangled at South Delhi Home

NEW DELHI: A 22-year-old woman was murdered at her residence in South Delhi’s Amar Colony on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, in what police are treating as a targeted killing. The victim has been identified as the daughter of Dinesh Gupta, a 1997-batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer.
Investigators believe the woman was strangled, likely with a mobile phone charging cable that was recovered at the scene.
The crime came to light when Gupta returned home from a morning walk with his wife to find his daughter lying in a pool of blood. Police were immediately alerted and rushed to the spot, where they took custody of the body and launched a formal investigation, according to media reports.
A senior police officer said the incident occurred while both parents were out, and that the accused appears to have used his knowledge of the household’s layout and routine to enter undetected. “He was recently removed from his job,” the officer stated.
Prime Suspect
Police suspicion has centred on Rahul Meena, a 19-year-old who had been employed as a domestic worker at the residence for approximately eight months. Meena has been missing since the time of the incident, and efforts to trace him have so far been unsuccessful.
Investigators noted that a spare key was routinely kept at a designated spot accessible to domestic staff a detail Meena was well aware of, given his extended tenure at the household.
The deceased was also preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination at the time of her death. A manhunt is currently underway to locate the prime suspect.
