In a corruption case involving the Delhi Jal Board, AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain was granted bail by a Delhi court on Thursday, September 3, 2026.
In a succinct oral ruling, Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh stated, “Bail plea is allowed.”
He instructed Jain to provide two sureties of the same amount and a personal bond of ₹2 lakh. We’re waiting for a rational order. On August 19, Jain was placed under 14 days of judicial custody.
The issue concerns a tender that was given to Ms. Euroteck Environmental Private Limited during Jain’s tenure as Delhi’s water minister.
The tendering procedure was purposefully made technology-centric to favor Euroteck Environmental, according to allegations filed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) about manipulation of tender conditions.
Additionally, it claimed that Jain unilaterally boosted the Rohini sewage treatment plant’s (STP) capacity from 15 million gallons per day (mgd) to 30 mgd without conducting a technical feasibility study, which led to an increase in costs of almost ₹123 crore.
The ACB had alleged a money trail in which commissions were transferred to the bank accounts of many accused individuals via middlemen.
The Directorate of Vigilance filed a complaint in May 2024 regarding alleged widespread violations, manipulation of contract conditions, and criminal conspiracy in the DJB’s augmentation and upgrade of STPs during the tendering process.
