The announcement came a day after senior party leaders met to finalise the list. Congress has chosen to contest alone in a race that is shaping up as a direct fight between Mamata Banerjee’s TMC and the BJP. Voting is in two phases April 23 and April 29 with counting on May 4. In 2021, Congress and its Left Front ally both failed to win a single seat. TMC won 213 of the 294 assembly constituencies that year.
