New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday staged a protest outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) headquarters in the national capital, intensifying its attack on the Punjab government over alleged examination paper leaks. The party demanded the resignation of Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains, accusing the AAP government of failing to safeguard the state’s examination and recruitment process.
A large number of BJP workers gathered outside the AAP office carrying party flags and raising slogans against the Punjab government. Anticipating the protest, Delhi Police deployed heavy security and put up barricades around the party headquarters to prevent any untoward incident. Brief scuffles were reported after some protesters attempted to move past the barricades, but the situation remained under control.
The demonstration comes amid a growing political storm over allegations of question paper leaks in Punjab. The BJP alleged that repeated irregularities in examinations have left thousands of students and job aspirants uncertain about the fairness of recruitment and testing processes. The party claimed that the state government had failed to ensure transparency and accountability, making the issue a matter of public concern.
Addressing the protesters, BJP leaders accused the AAP government of betraying the trust of young people preparing for competitive examinations. They maintained that fixing responsibility was essential and insisted that the Education Minister should step down while the allegations are investigated.
The controversy has become one of the sharpest flashpoints between the BJP and the AAP in recent weeks. The BJP has repeatedly targeted the Bhagwant Mann led Punjab government over its handling of the issue, while also raising the matter in Parliament and demanding immediate corrective measures.
The AAP, however, has defended its government, saying that action is being taken wherever irregularities are detected and that the administration is committed to ensuring fair and transparent examinations. The party has also accused the opposition of trying to politicise the issue for electoral gains rather than allowing the investigation to take its course.
The alleged paper leak controversy has drawn criticism from several opposition parties, including the Congress and the Shiromani Akali Dal, adding further pressure on the Punjab government. With political rhetoric continuing to intensify, the issue is expected to remain at the centre of the BJP-AAP confrontation in the coming days.
For now, the protest outside the AAP headquarters marks another escalation in the political battle over the alleged examination leaks, with both parties standing firm on their positions and showing little sign of backing down.
