A biker stranded in a sudden flash flood in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district was pulled to safety with the help of a woman’s dupatta after a passing family stopped to assist.
Heavy rain had caused a rapid surge of water to flow across the road, leaving the motorcyclist struggling against the strong current. A car carrying a family approached the stretch and the passengers quickly noticed the man in difficulty. They stopped immediately.
One of the men from the vehicle stepped out and tried to reach the biker, but the force of the water made it hard to get close. At that point a newly married woman from the group left the car, removed her dupatta and held it out towards the stranded rider.
The biker seized the fabric and used it to steady himself while making his way through the flowing water. With the man also providing support, the pair together managed to draw the rider out of the dangerous current and towards safety.
The entire sequence was recorded on video and has been widely shared on social media, drawing attention to the quick action taken by the family.
The incident highlights the sudden risks that heavy rainfall can create on hill roads in the region, where flash floods can develop with little warning. Continuous rain has also raised landslide concerns in parts of Chamba, though separate reports from the area have noted no casualties in recent related events.
The family’s intervention, particularly the woman’s decision to use her dupatta as an improvised lifeline, allowed the biker to escape the rising water before the situation worsened.
