According to an associate on Tuesday, social activist Anna Hazare was rushed to a hospital in Mumbai after blood tests revealed a kidney illness. “According to Anna’s blood reports, he had a renal infection, but he is doing fine now,” Hazare’s assistant Datta Awari stated.
Hazare, 89, was taken to Bombay Hospital in south Mumbai on Monday nite from his hometown of Ralegan Siddhi village in Ahilyanagar district, where he had been admitted to a local medical facility for initial treatment.
He stated that the anti-graft activist had recovered after being admitted to a hospital in Ahilyanagar last week.
Hazare’s condition was being thoroughly evaluated by medical professionals at Bombay Hospital.
The Armyman-turned-activist has spearheaded several campaigns to support rural development, improve government openness, and combat corruption over the years.
One of the biggest mass mobilizations in New Delhi in 2011 was the anti-corruption campaign spearheaded by Hazare. His 13-day fast attracted sizable crowds calling for a more robust Lokpal law.
The third-highest civilian honor in the nation, the Padma Bhushan, was given to him in 1992.
