Bengaluru: A 23 year old woman was alleged stabbed to death by her boyfriend after he invited her for diner in Bengaluru, with investigators saying the attack followed an arguement over marriage. The accused has been arrested, and police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal assault.

According to the police, the victim and the accused had been in a relationship for nearly three to four years after meeting at their workplace. Investigators said the couple had discussed marriage, but the woman’s family reportedly opposed the relationship due to accused alleged criminal background. This opposition is believed to have strained the relationship in recent months.

Police said the accused invited the woman to meet him on Sunday evening, reportedly hoping to resolve their differnces. During the meeting, an argument allegedly broke out over their future together. Officers suspect the accused had carried a knife to the meeting and alegedly attacked the woman during the confrontation, inflicting fatal injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

The accused was taken into custody soon after the incident. Police have registered a murder case and are collecting forensic evidence, recording witness statements, and examining the sequence of events to determine whether the attack was premeditated. The victim’s body has been sent for a post mortem examination, which is expected to help investigators establish the exact cause and manner of death.

Investigators are also examining the couple’s recent interactions, including phone records and digital communications, to understand the events leading up to the crime. Officials have not ruled out additional charges if fresh evidence emerges during the investigation.

The incident has once again drawn attention to violent crimes arising from personal relationships. Experts note that while relationship disputes are common, controlling behaviour, repeated threats, intimidation and stalking can sometimes escalate into serious violence if left unaddressed. Law enforcement agencies continue to urge individuals facing threats or abuse from current or former partners to seek help from family members, trusted friends or the police at the earliest opportunity.

Police have stated that the investigations remain ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge after forensic analysis and questioned of the accused.
