4-Year-Old Girl Abducted in Broad Daylight in Mohali’s Kurali Town, Grandparents Struggle to Stop Kidnappers; CCTV Footage Surfaces
Mohali: A four-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight outside her residence in Kurali town in Punjab’s Mohali district, with CCTV footage capturing the abduction and the elderly grandparents’ attempts to stop it.
According to preliminary information, the girl was sitting on a scooter with her grandfather outside their home when two men arrived on a motorcycle and attempted to snatch the child. The grandmother had briefly stepped away to open the gate when the incident unfolded. CCTV visuals show the grandparents physically confronting the attackers and shouting for help. Despite their resistance, the suspects overpowered the elderly couple, forced the child into a waiting vehicle, and fled within seconds. Neighbours were unable to intervene before the abductors sped away.
The footage has since circulated widely on social media.
Father Alleges Custody Dispute
The child’s father has claimed the abduction may be linked to an ongoing custody dispute with his wife. He alleged that the individuals involved were known to the family and accused his wife of orchestrating the kidnapping. He also alleged the involvement of his mother-in-law and a person named Sandeep, and called for a thorough investigation. A legal case regarding the child’s custody is currently pending in court, according to the father.
Police Investigation Underway
Punjab Police have begun examining CCTV footage, questioning witnesses, and pursuing leads to identify the suspects and locate the child. Authorities are also verifying the claims related to the custody dispute to determine whether the incident constitutes a criminal kidnapping or stems from a family conflict.
