Surat: In yet another tragic incident, a female teacher in the city has taken her own life, reportedly driven by relentless torment from her in-laws. The 33-year-old educator, residing in the Amroli area, ingested a poisonous substance, sparking widespread shock throughout the neighborhood. Authorities at the Amroli police station have registered a complaint accusing her husband and in-laws of inflicting severe mental distress that led to this desperate act.
Marriage Five Years Ago Marked the Start of Troubles
According to details that emerged, the teacher had tied the knot with Nilesh Narola about five years back. Nilesh operates a physiotherapy clinic in the Sarthana locality. From the early days of their marriage, minor issues escalated into frequent arguments between the couple. Additionally, her mother-in-law, father-in-law, and sister-in-law allegedly contributed to the ongoing harassment.
Overwhelmed by the constant abuse, the woman consumed the toxic substance at her home. She was rushed to a hospital for urgent treatment, but she succumbed shortly after. Following the event, her family members lodged a formal complaint at the Amroli police station, charging the in-laws with abetment to suicide. Based on the filing, police have initiated a deeper investigation.
Similar Case Last Month in the City
Just last month, Surat witnessed another teacher suicide. A 19-year-old from the Patidar community, named Nenu Vavdiya, who worked as an assistant teacher at a tuition center, ended her life at her home in the Nani Ved area while her family was away.
Her relatives subsequently filed a police report. For the past five months, a 20-year-old man named Nil had been stalking her and pressuring her into a relationship, which ultimately pushed her to take this extreme step.
