Road Closures Announced in Ahmedabad as Bullet Train Work Faces Delay Check Alternate Routes

Ahmedabad: Ongoing construction work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor, popularly known as the bullet train project, has been delayed, prompting the Ahmedabad traffic police to issue two new notifications on Saturday for road and bridge closures. Both advisories, released by the traffic department, highlight key routes that will remain affected for an extended period. Commuters have been advised to brace for diversions and traffic disruptions until further notice due to delays in project completion.

Work to continue till November 15
According to officials, pillar installation work is currently underway between Sabarmati and Vatva as part of the bullet train project. Major construction activities are concentrated on the Cadila Bridge, where work began on April 6 but could not be completed due to technical challenges and railway scheduling issues. The revised timeline now extends the construction until November 15. Details of road closures and alternative routes have been outlined by the police in public notifications.

BRTS corridor to remain closed in some areas
The Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) corridor in the affected stretch will remain non-operational during the construction period. BRTS buses will instead operate through alternate routes outside the corridor. Where nighttime work is not being carried out near the bridge, limited vehicular movement may be permitted. Meanwhile, construction of the upcoming bullet train station in Saraspur is also underway, leading to the closure of a 500-metre stretch between RC Technical Institute and Faizan School for all vehicles.

Diversions for vehicles near Kalupur Metro Station
As per the traffic police, vehicles traveling from Faizan School can detour via the railway parcel office toward the Gurudwara and then proceed to Janzar Cinema Metro Station. Similarly, vehicles coming from Kalupur Metro Station can use the Saraspur route to reach the Gurudwara and Faizan School.

At present, work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor is proceeding at full pace. The traffic department has urged motorists to strictly follow all issued notifications to ensure smooth and safe movement around construction zones.
