Rajkot Murder Case : Man Allegedly Killed Partner Over Fake Female Identity

Rajkot : It started with a Facebook message from someone calling himself “Nisha”. It ended with a man’s body hidden under stones near a railway track. Police in Gujarat’s Rajkot district have arrested a 20-year-old man for allegedly killing another man who had pretended to be a woman to start a relationship with him and later followed him to different cities.

The case came to light on June 25, when a decomposed body dressed in women’s clothes was found near railway tracks in rural Rajkot. At first, police thought it was an accidental death. But after the post-mortem showed serious head injuries, they started investigating it as a murder case.

Technical surveillance and local intelligence, police identified and arrested Piyush Kumar Kharwar, a native of Uttar Pradesh. Rajkot Rural SP Vijay Singh Gurjar said the accused admitted to the crime during questioning. According to police, Piyush met Chandan Kumar in Hyderabad after the two connected on social media. Investigators said Chandan introduced himself as a woman, using the name “Nisha Kumar” on Facebook and “Poonam” on Instagram.

Believing Chandan was a woman, Piyush got into a relationship with him and the two later started living together. Police said Chandan refused physical intimacy and gave religious reasons for it. The relationship changed when Piyush allegedly saw Chandan shaving and realised that the person he believed was a woman was actually a man looking for a same-sex relationship.

Investigators said Chandan kept following Piyush even after he moved for work from Hyderabad to Uttar Pradesh, then Rajasthan, and later to Rajkot district in Gujarat. According to police, Chandan followed him to different places. Finally, on June 21, the two allegedly had a heated argument at a factory in Padvala village in Rajkot district.
