Ahmedabad: Three weather systems are active over Gujarat at once a trough, a western disturbance, and a well-marked low-pressure area and the India Meteorological Department has issued a high alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall over the coming days. The monsoon’s main axis is currently running across the state, making the next 24 hours critical, especially in South Gujarat and Saurashtra.
Red Alert: 8 Districts
The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall in eight districts Surat, Bhavnagar, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Dang, Daman, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Fishermen have been told not to venture into the sea because of the poor conditions and strong winds. Signal No. 3 has gone up at all coastal ports as a precaution.
Orange and Yellow Alerts Elsewhere
Amreli and Gir Somnath in Saurashtra, along with Bharuch, Narmada, Kheda, and Aravalli, are on alert for very heavy rain. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, plus Junagadh, Botad, Sabarkantha, Anand, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, Dahod, and Mahisagar.
Ahmedabad Braces for Thunderstorms
Ahmedabad is forecast to see thunderstorms, with strong winds and lightning. The Municipal Corporation has readied itself for possible waterlogging in low-lying areas and has asked residents to stay indoors unless necessary and remain cautious.
