Gujarat Teacher Dies After Falling Off Bike In 39°C Heat While Returning Home After Dropping Daughter For Board Exams

Surat: A 52-year-old school teacher from Surat, Gujarat, died on Friday afternoon after falling off his motorcycle, allegedly due to dehydration caused by extreme heat. The deceased has been identified as Bhavanbhai Hadiya, a resident of Ambika Residency in Kamrej and a native of Bhavnagar.

Hadiya had just dropped his daughter off at P P Savani High School, where she was appearing for her Class 12 board examination, and was on his way back home when he lost control of his bike. Surat recorded a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius on Friday, according to the weather department. Hadiya was employed as a teacher at a government school in Kathor village, Kamrej.

Utran police inspector S G Padheriya told reporters, “Doctors who conducted the postmortem said that due to the high temperature, Hadiya might have experienced dehydration, and he lost control of the running bike. We are waiting for the post-mortem report.”

Hadiya was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending doctors.

His daughter, Dipti, was unaware of the tragedy until her board examination concluded and her father did not arrive to pick her up. When she called his phone, her brother answered and informed her that their father had passed away, according to the police.

The Utran police have registered an accidental death case in connection with the incident and initiated a formal investigation.
