Gujarat Police Prepares List Of Anti-Social Elements, Illegal Constructions To Be Razed

Move Comes After The Vastral Incident

Ever since the incident that occurred in Vastral on the night of Holi, the police have decided to bring all the anti-social elements to their rightful place. The state police had decided to find all the anti-social elements within 100 hours.

But, the police could not even maintain their announced deadline. After 100 hours, they took additional 48 hours, and finally the SMC (State Monitoring Cell) has released a list of 15 bootleggers with illegal properties and constructions. Bulldozer action will start soon there.

The list prepared by the SMC contains the names of 15 known criminals of Gujarat. Out of which, 6 bootleggers are from Ahmedabad and 3 are from Surat. The people mentioned in the list have accumulated their property by earning crores of rupees in crimes including gambling, liquor, and chemical theft.

Moreover, according to the list, some of these people have encroached on government land while others have set up buisnesses by establishing shops.

In the past as well, the police have prepared a list of 10 gangs that are active in Ahmedabad. These different gangs have been active in areas including Ghatlodia, Vadaj, Khokhra, Amraiwadi, Juhapura, Narol, and Vatwa. These gangs have been involved in illegal activities such as demanding extortion from traders, usurping properties like land, and looting.

Crimes have been registered against these gangs not only in the police stations of the city, but also in those across the state. Depending on the seriousness of the state, the police can register crimes against these gangs under GUJCTOC.

In addition, the Ahmedabad police has also prepared a list of 1100 accused who have been involved in two or more crimes. This list will be sent to the state police chief, and the guidelines for action will be decided based on the seriousness of the crime.

Many questions arise here regarding the action of the administration. If the authorities had information about the illegal construction, why did they not take action earlier?

Another important concern is whether the illegal activities will end after demolition of the property and houses of the anti-social elements.

At the same time, after the Vastral incident, the state government has transferred 28 PIs at once.
